Vitamin C is a water-soluble nutrient well known for its vital role in the immune system. Vitamin C is also necessary for the production of collagen (a structural protein in connective tissue), making it important for the health of skin, bones, and joints. Vitamin C is required for amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, and the utilization of many nutrients such as folic acid and iron. In addition, it is a highly effective antioxidant that can protect the body’s cells and molecules from damage by free radicals and reactive oxygen species formed during normal metabolism and as a result of exposure to environmental stress factors. This product contains calcium ascorbate, a buffered form of vitamin C that is bioavailable and non-acidic. The effect of the product is enhanced by bioflavonoids, which act synergistically with vitamin C.
