Vitamin C is a water-soluble nutrient that plays a vital role in the immune system. Vitamin C is also required for the production of collagen (a structural protein in connective tissue) and is therefore important for the health of skin, bones, and joints. It is needed for amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, and the utilization of many nutrients such as folic acid and iron. In addition, it is a highly effective antioxidant that can protect the body’s cells and molecules from damage by free radicals and reactive oxygen species formed during normal metabolism and as a result of exposure to environmental stress factors. This product contains calcium ascorbate, a buffered form of vitamin C that is bioavailable and non-acidic. The product’s action is enhanced with bioflavonoids, which together with vitamin C create a synergistic effect.

Some scientific evidence suggests that consumption of antioxidant vitamins may reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer. However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that this evidence is limited and not conclusive.
