For B vitamins to be used by the body, they must first be converted into active coenzyme forms. This Coenzymated™ vitamin B6 enters the bloodstream directly in its active form, ready to start working immediately. This helps avoid losses that can occur not only during digestion, but also during the conversion process in the liver. Pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP or P-5'-P) is the main metabolically active coenzyme form of vitamin B6. Most P-5'-P is synthesized in the liver from pyridoxine with the help of enzymes that require vitamin B2, zinc, and magnesium to function. P-5'-P is associated with numerous enzymes, many of which are involved in converting amino acids into the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. P-5'-P is also necessary for the synthesis of the hemoglobin molecule.
