A carotenoid that is naturally found in yellow-red fruits and vegetables, dark leafy vegetables, and eggs. Of the six hundred natural carotenoids, only two – lutein and zeaxanthin – have the ability to penetrate into the tissues of the eyes.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are the main pigments of the macula (yellow spot), located in the center of the retina and responsible for high visual acuity. Prolonged lutein deficiency leads to irreversible vision deterioration. It selectively absorbs the aggressive part of the spectrum of light rays (screening protective function) and neutralizes their harmful effect (antioxidant function).

The human body is not able to synthesize lutein, therefore the intake of lutein into the body is directly related to nutrition. Among all carotenoids, lutein has the highest bioavailability — almost 80%. Its absorption is most affected by the presence of lipids in food. To absorb lutein, it is necessary to consume some lipids (fats).

It is currently assumed that the macular pigment, with its absorption maximum at 460 nm (blue region), performs several functions. Among them are: reducing the effect of chromatic aberration of the eye by lowering the intensity of the blue aberrational “aureole” during eye accommodation in the region of maximum medium sensitivity (550 nm), thereby increasing visual acuity; and an antioxidative function – the combination of high partial oxygen pressure in the retina (up to 70 mm Hg) and the presence of membranes rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids that are sensitive to photooxidation creates prerequisites for the development of oxidative stress, and the high concentration of lipophilic xanthophylls with antioxidant properties prevents oxidative damage to cells.

Method of administration:
For adult athletes, 1 capsule daily with a glass of water for 30 days. After 30 days of use, take a break for 2 weeks. Then continue the second part of the course for 30 days.
