Tribulus is an herbal remedy. The preparation Tribulus Terrestris from most well-known manufacturers contains predominantly steroidal saponins of the furostanol type, among which protodioscin predominates. The mechanism of action of the preparation is due to this component. Protodioscin is metabolized in the body to dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), which has a beneficial effect on cell membrane permeability, erectile function, cholesterol metabolism, and immunity.

Other active furostanol saponins that are part of the extract of the plant Tribulus terrestris (testosterone booster) are likely to modulate the effect of protodioscin. The active substance protodioscin is rapidly eliminated from blood plasma – its concentration becomes insignificant as early as during the 3rd hour. It is excreted mainly with bile. The low percentage of excretion of unchanged protodioscin, compared with the dose taken, confirms the assumption that it is intensively biotransformed in the body.

Tribulus increases the level of testosterone production in the human body by increasing the amount of luteinizing hormone, thanks to which testosterone is produced in the body. As a result, strength indicators increase and muscle growth accelerates. In addition, Tribulus Terrestris is able to increase libido and sexual activity by stimulating androgen receptors in the brain.

Tribulus as a sports supplement is allowed for use by athletes participating in competitions, since the supplement is legal and is not included in the list of doping agents.

Recommendations for use:
Use 3 times a day, spray under the tongue (1–3 sprays at a time) after meals (if there is no irritation of the mucous membrane, it may also be taken before meals). After 1–3 months of use, take a break for 2–4 weeks.
